Alleged rape victim’s lawyers say they have ‘devastating’ evidence against Sanford Rubenstein

Lawyers for the woman who accused Sanford Rubenstein of rape said they have “devastating” information against the high-powered lawyer and blamed him for “trying to demonize” the alleged victim.

“There’s a lot of new information that will be devastating to Mr. Rubenstein,” said lawyer Keith White, who added they are confident he will be indicted. “We want to give the district attorney a chance to take this information and do the right thing. . . . We expected the district attorney to do the right thing.”

CROWN HEIGHTS—The lawyer and allies of a teenager who was wrongfully arrested last week stormed out of the 71st Precinct June Community Council meeting Thursday, while a representative of the local police station conveyed the police’s telling of the incident.

Nicholas Simon, who is 17 years old, last Wednesday was dribbling a basketball and was suddenly apprehended in Crown Heights by a group of officers, who police say were responding to shots being fired in the area, as Simon was walking home from the park. Simon, who has sickle cell anemia and asthma, was handcuffed by multiple cops who emerged from a police car, video of the incident shows. According to Simon, the officers put their knees on his back and head and asking him to display a gun he did not have while they arrested him.

Keith White, a director of social justice initiatives at Christian Cultural Center, has been petitioning New York City elections officials to allow his predominantly Black church in Brooklyn to serve as a polling location. Whether or not that happens, the church will use its van and a charter bus to shuttle early voters between now and Election Day, he said.

“People are concerned about this election and the implication that it might have for our children’s future,” White said. “Folks will be out early. I don’t think they will be waiting until the last day before Election Day.”Keith White featured in the Huffington Post
